WAKOUWA is a sneaker brand that focuses on deck shoes, which began to be developed as an Anatomica sports label in 2008.
Originally WAKOUWA is a Swiss toy brand. Why did toy brands become sneaker brands? There was a story about two dogs.
The first thing is that WAKOUWA was making toys that resemble dogs.
WAKOUWA started as a Swiss manufacturer that produced and sold wooden toys that mimic animals such as dogs and cats. In the 1950s, when Anatomica's Pierre was a child, he saw WAKOUWA on a Christmas display at the department store Le Bon Marche in Paris. At the time, I was unable to get it, and after I became an adult, I found a WAKOUWA toy at a flea market and bought one, but my love interest was successful and it was no longer in use.WAKOUWAThe brand was registered as a trademark and became its own brand.
The second story of the dog is that the Sperry sole is used in WAKOUWA.
A project has begun with Teramoto of 35SUMMERS, who was originally a partner by releasing ANATOMICA's first denim, to create canvas sneakers using a sole that is non-slip, commonly known as Sperry sole.
The origin of Sperry Sole began when a captain named Paul Sperry created deck shoes using outsoles that were developed with inspiration from his dog's paw pads. Sperry noticed that only the dogs were unable to slip on the wet yacht deck, and thought that the gaps that were created when spreading the dog's paw balls serve as a grip.
A blend of Swiss dog toys and the story of Sperry's beloved dog, bringing the name WAKOUWA and a brand that is mainly dog-based.
This is how WAKOUWA was born, and developed an original last (wooden mold), produced 12 samples, and took about three years to complete. The characteristics of this wooden mold have an asymmetrical inside straight out-curve shape that is typical of orthopedic shoes. In other words, it fits the original shape of a human foot, and the shoes themselves are fixed at the arch of the foot, and the size of the fingertips creates a stress-free fit.
In addition, the vulcanized manufacturing method, which is now less mass-produced, is used, and instead of stitching the canvas upper of the sneakers and the elastic sole, it is crimped to create a softer fit that is closer to barefoot.
WAKOUWA sneakers are sold after measuring your feet and testing the size to ensure the perfect fit.
For customers who have not yet measured their feet, we recommend that you measure your feet and then shop or shop online.
New colors will be released in the spring and summer of 2021. There are three colors: orange, which is R's theme color, gold, a yellow color that is typical of spring, and a reprint of the tongue.
